Name: Macy
Diagnosis: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
Home state: Tennessee
After several months of visiting the doctor for stomach viruses and the flu, Macy’s family received the unthinkable news that six-year old Macy had acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), the most common form of childhood cancer. The doctor immediately referred her to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital where she began treatment the next day.
At St. Jude, Macy is undergoing the standard three-year protocol for ALL, which includes chemotherapy. Macy has responded well to treatment and continues to come to St. Jude three times a week for treatment. Her parents are hopeful and grateful for the care Macy is receiving at the hospital.
"Our hope for the future is to have Macy completely healed," said Melanie, Macy’s mother. "And once she is healed, we’re already talking about ways to give back to St. Jude, because our life…our heart…our hope is here. We are just eternally grateful."
Macy enjoys several activities including art, dancing, cheerleading, riding her bicycle, rollerblading, singing, playing t-ball and swimming. Her favorite food is pizza.
