Name:  Danielle

Diagnosis:  Wilms Tumor

Home state:  Louisiana

During a check up at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® in 2002, Danielle’s mother was devastated to learn her daughter had relapsed. The Wilms tumor, which was first diagnosed in 2000, had returned.

Danielle is back at St. Jude, enduring more chemotherapy and radiation. Although the treatments can be difficult, she’s happy to be with her “good friends” – the St. Jude staff. She looks up to them and wants to be a St. Jude nurse when she grows up.

“It’s amazing how much Danielle has matured throughout this ordeal,” said Samanthia, Danielle’s grandmother. “Danielle was saying a prayer with the whole family and the last thing she said was, ‘And God, thank you for cancer.’ That just amazed me.”

Danielle’s family knows tough times may lie ahead, but they find comfort at St. Jude. With the help of their supportive friends and spiritual beliefs, Danielle’s family knows she will overcome this and have a healthy future.
