            Name: Jakob

          Diagnosis:  Medulloblastoma

          Home State:  California

When Jakob’s eyes began crossing and he started losing his balance, his mother, Sylvia, took him to several doctors near their California home. It was soon discovered that Jakob had a brain tumor called medulloblastoma.

The family researched the disease online and found that most of the information came from St. Children’s Research Hospital®. They then received a doctor’s referral and were on their way to MemphisTenn.

The family was immediately impressed by the attitude at St. Jude. “Doctors originally told me there was no hope for Jakob,” said Sylvia. “But when we came to St. Jude, it was a completely different story.”

Jakob’s treatment consists of more than 40 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. Between treatments, Jakob enjoys playing with his remote control cars and spending time outside on the jungle gym.
