Name: Judith Grace

Diagnosis:  Neuroblastoma

Home State:  Louisiana

Why can’t this happen to me, instead of her?” thought Chip, when he learned his daughter, Judith Grace, had a cancerous tumor in her chest. Doctors told the family that the mass had already grown to the size of a lemon.

Just after the diagnosis, the family was raced by ambulance from Louisiana to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, where Judith Grace underwent a bone marrow transplant and chemotherapy treatments.

“I couldn’t comprehend my daughter having cancer,” said Chip. “And now that I’m here – I can’t comprehend not having St. Jude. These people here see things through children’s eyes and that’s what makes it all click.”

Judith Grace, who’s a fan of spaghetti and dancing, is scheduled to complete her treatment this spring and her father has big plans for her. “I can see Gracie being an artist, a preacher or a fund-raiser for an organization like St. Jude.”
