'Darius and Friends' inaugural concert raises $48K for St. Jude

Singer and songwriter Darius Rucker gathered some of his fellow musicians in June during the CMA Music Festival week for the inaugural "Darius and Friends" concert to benefit

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The concert, held at Nashville's Wildhorse Saloon, raised more than $48,000 for the kids of St. Jude.

Joining the GRAMMY® Award-winning artist for the sold-out concert was Radney Foster, Jake Owen, Randy Houser and Jamey Johnson. Rucker performed some of his biggest hits during the show, but also teamed up with his musician friends to perform such fan favorites as "Dixieland Delight," "Drift Away," "Just Call Me Lonesome" and "In Color." Fans who filled the saloon were surprised when Kid Rock came on stage to join Rucker and his friends for the show's finale.

"The friends joining me for this benefit concert all share the same dream I do for a cancer free world, but until that can happen, we need to raise awareness and funds for this incredible organization," said Rucker.

Rucker is a loyal St. Jude supporter who has visited the hospital and performed at multiple events in support of its lifesaving mission. He also has recorded radio spots for the hospital for use during the annual Thanks and Giving® campaign.
